What is this project?

ModMiiNext aims to be a modern version of the original ModMii project. Currently, it can analyze your Nintendo Wii console's system configuration and automatically provide the exact WAD files needed to update your system's homebrew components.

Simply upload your Wii's syscheck.csv file (generated by the SysCheck homebrew app), and this tool will analyze your system's current state, identify missing or outdated components, and provide a convenient ZIP download containing all the necessary WAD files for your specific system configuration.

Connection to ModMii

This project is inspired by and builds upon the incredible work of ModMii by XFlak, the Windows application that has been the go-to tool for Wii homebrew management.

What is ModMii?

ModMii is a Windows application that can softmod any Wii, WiiU, or vWii console. It downloads all necessary files, generates custom guides, updates outdated homebrew, and performs many other Wii hacking functions including USB-loader setup and emulated NAND creation.

Why a web-based approach?

✅ Advantages

  • • Cross-platform compatibility
  • • No installation required
  • • Always up-to-date
  • • Handle download and handling of WAD files

📋 Current Scope

  • • Focused on syscheck.csv analysis
  • • Downloading of necessary WAD files from sources

How it works

1

Upload Syscheck

Upload your syscheck.csv file generated by the SysCheck Updater homebrew app on your Wii

2

Analysis

The server analyzes your console's configuration and identifies missing or outdated components.

2

WAD "Caching"

It downloads the necessary WAD files from ModMii sources and stores them in a s3 for easy access.

3

Download

Get a customized ZIP file containing all the WAD files your system needs

Credits, Supporting Apps, and Sources

ModMii was written entirely by XFlak. Trust me, no one else is crazy enough to try to maintain a batch file that has grown so large and 'all over the place'. But without the help of many other very talented people ModMii would not exist. Some people have contributed supporting files or programs, others have shared their knowledge, some have provided ideas and others have given their time.

The following credits are from the original ModMii project and acknowledge all the incredible contributors who made ModMii possible.

Team Twiizers

Thanks to Team Twiizers for creating the revolutionary HackMii Installer. Without their hard work, the Wii might never have been unlocked. Many Team Twiizer Members went on to join Team Fail Overflow; a team that played a vital role in unlocking the PS3.

Special thanks to Bushing (may he rest in peace), who before his untimely passing gave ModMii his blessing to download and use the HackMii Installer.

Key Contributors

Giantpune

A legend in the Wii Scene who created many exploits, including the Smash Stack exploit for PAL and KOR Wii's, the Channel Forwarder dol, USB Loader GX, and many other programs. He explained cIOS details when ModMii was still known as NUS Auto Downloader.

DeadlyFoez

Legendary for his Wii Repairs and infectus tutorial. Played a key role in ModMii v5.0.0 update by helping create HTML guides, recording videos and images, and building the first official ModMii website.

Crediar, Daco Taco and Phpgeek

Created Priiloader, the revolutionary tool that offered protection to newer Wii's unable to install Bootmii at boot2. Special thanks to Daco Taco for actively maintaining Priiloader and developing OpenDolBoot.

NinjaCheetah

Thanks for his work on libWiiPy, WiiPy, NUSGet and more! Always very open to feedback and feature requests.

Waninkoko

The first to publicly release a cIOS and creator of WAD manager, Save Game Manager, USB loader, etc. Gave ModMii permission to recreate his cIOSs in WAD form.

d2x cIOS Team (davebaol, blackb0x, XFlak, xabby)

These developers worked together to modify Waninkoko's rev21 cIOS and created the "d2x" cIOS, currently considered the ultimate cIOS for its bug fixes and new features like IOS Reloading support.

USB Loader Development Teams

USBLoaderGX Team

Cyan, dimok, blackb0x and team for one of the most feature-rich USB loaders.

WiiFlow Team

Hibernatus, Fledge68 and team for the beautiful WiiFlow loader.

Configurable USB Loader

oggzee, usptactical, gannon and Dr.Clipper for always being first with new features.

ModMii is entirely free to use and ad-free. This passion project has taken over 9,000-10,000 hours of development time and represents the incredible dedication of XFlak and the entire Wii homebrew community.

This Project (ModMiiNext)

Built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. This web-based tool focuses on syscheck analysis and WAD file provision, making ModMii's functionality accessible from any device with a web browser. Open source and available on GitHub.
